KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY 2026 計画概要
KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY 2026（KYOTO JEWELRY WEEK）は、京都を舞台に、ジュエリーをきっかけとして人々や企業、文化のあいだに新たなつながりを生み出すことを目指す、地域連携型のアートプロジェクトです。京都国立近代美術館の「ジュエリーは、誰を夢みる」展開幕に合わせて開催されます。
本企画では、ミュンヘンで開催されているジュエリーウィークや、国際手工芸メッセ内の「Handwerk & Design」の取り組みを参考にしながら、日本独自の文化、技術、都市性を生かした複数のプログラムを展開します。
ジュエリーを「装飾品」や「購入される商品」としてのみ捉えるのではなく、身につけること、鑑賞すること、制作すること、そして人と出会うことをつなぐ表現の起点として捉え直します。展覧会、イベント、街中でのプログラムを通して、京都の街全体に新しい交流と学びの場を生み出し、ジュエリーをきっかけとした、京都発の新しいジュエリー文化を構築することを目指します。

《コンテンポラリージュエリーとは》
コンテンポラリージュエリーは、戦後の西洋を中心に、従来のジュエリーが持っていた共通認識や常識から「ジュエリーを解放する」動きとして広まりました。素材、形状、目的、機能、概念を、作家やデザイナーの視点によって拡張し続けることで、コンテンポラリージュエリーは一つの表現分野として成熟してきました。
現在もなお、新しいジュエリーのあり方を模索する動きは世界各地で続いていますが、CJSTでは、その先にある「解放されたジュエリーで何ができるのか」という視点から、この分野の可能性と面白さについて議論を続けています。
《主なプログラム》
1. ジュエリー・ウォークラリー
京都市内の展示会場やイベント会場を巡りながら、来場者がネックレスのパーツを集めていく参加型プログラムです。各会場では、限定数のパーツを受け取ることができ、複数の会場を訪れることで、KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRYオリジナルのネックレスを完成させていきます。完成したネックレスは、初めてのジュエリーコレクションとして、また京都での体験を記憶す る記念品として無料で持ち帰ることができます。
2. 国内外の作家・学生による個展、グループ展
京都市内の文化施設、ギャラリー、レンタルスペース、庭園内の茶室などを活用し、ジュエリー作品と京都ならではの空間が出会う展示を企画します。日本国内では、コンテンポラリージュエリーを継続的に発表・鑑賞できる場がまだ限られています。本企画では、全国の作家に作品発表の機会を提供するとともに、来場者が作品を購入できる環境を整え、国内におけるジュエリー市場と鑑賞文化の拡大を目指します。
3. 京都在住の職人とのコラボレーション
京都で活動する職人と、デザイナーや作家が交流し、新しい作品や商品の可能性を探るコラボレーション企画を実施します。伝統的な技術を現代のジュエリー表現やデザインと結びつけることで、技術の新たな活用方法を見出すとともに、職人の仕事をより多くの人に紹介する機会をつくります。
4. CJSTシンポジウムおよび公募展の同時開催
KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRYの期間中に、CJSTのシンポジウムと公募展を同時開催します。 シンポジウムでは、京都国立近代美術館を会場に、登壇者と参加者が意見交換を行う討論会、美術館内の作品に関連 したジュエリー作品を実際に手に取り、身につけることができるハンドリング会、海外在住作家によるトークなどを予定しています。公募展では、第3回公募テーマである「ブローチ」の入選作品に加え、これまでの公募展入選者から選抜した作家によるグループ展を開催します。展示作品の一部は購入可能とし、鑑賞と購入をつなぐ機会を提供します。
5. 交流会の開催
作家、学生、ギャラリー関係者、教育機関、支援者、来場者が集まる交流会を開催します。所属や学校、世代、地域 を超えて出会う場をつくることで、日本国内におけるジュエリーを中心とした新しいネットワーク形成を目指し ます。
6. ギャラリーツアー
初めて京都を訪れる方、個人でジュエリーウィークに参加する方、コンテンポラリージュエリーについて学びたい方を対象に、少人数制のギャラリーツアーを実施します。専門的な知識がない方でも楽しめるよう、各会場や作品の見どころを紹介しながら巡るプログラムとして、事前申込制での開催を予定しています。ジュエリーウィークへの参加を促し、来場者と会場、作家をつなぐ導入プログラムとし て位置づけます。
《今後の目標》
KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRYは、単年度のイベントにとどまらず、京都をジュエリー文化の新しい発信拠点として育てていくことを目指しています。展示、教育、販売、交流、地域文化との連携を継続的に行うことで、作家にとっては発表と活動の場を、来場者にとってはジュエリーと出会う新しい体験を、支援者にとっては文化の未来を支える参加の機会をつくります。
《CJSTとは》
CJSTは、日本におけるジュエリー表現文化の活性化、発展、普及を目指し、さまざまなプロジェクトを企画・運営しているアーティストコレクティブです。
私たちは、西洋を中心に展開してきたコンテンポラリージュエリーの文脈を、ひとつの「ジュエリーの解放運動」として捉えています。そして、その先にある、自由になったジュエリーによって何が可能になるのかを議論し、実践しています。
ジュエリーを単なる装飾品や工芸品としてではなく、身体、社会、文化、歴史、制度などを結びつける関係性の起点となる、特有の表現形式として捉えること。身につけること、鑑賞すること、制作すること、人と出会うことを横断しながら、ジュエリーをきっかけに新たな対話や価値観を生み出していくこと。それがCJSTの活動の核にあります。
CJSTは、ジュエリーという領域を通して、異なる分野、人々、地域、文化をつなぐ「時代のハブ」となることを目指しています。そして、日本独自の文化や視点を生かしながら、国内外へ向けた《3プロジェクト》を展開し、新しいジュエリー文化の可能性を提示し続けています。

KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY 2026 – Project Overview
KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY 2026 (KYOTO JEWELRY WEEK) is a community-based art project set in Kyoto, aiming to create new connections among people, companies, and cultures through jewelry. The project will be held in conjunction with the opening of Creating Japanese Jewellery: Personal Expression and Memory, an exhibition at The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto.
Inspired by Munich Jewelry Week and the initiatives of “Handwerk & Design” within the International Trade Fair for Skilled Trades, this project presents a series of programs that make use of Japan’s unique culture, techniques, and urban character.
Rather than viewing jewelry only as an ornament or a product to be purchased, KYOTO JEWELRY WEEK reconsiders jewelry as a starting point for expression—one that connects wearing, viewing, making, and encountering others. Through exhibitions, events, and programs throughout the city, the project aims to create new spaces for exchange and learning across Kyoto, and to nurture a new jewelry culture originating from the city.

《Main Programs》
1. Jewelry Walk Rally
A participatory program in which visitors collect necklace components while exploring exhibition venues and event locations throughout Kyoto. Limited-edition parts will be available at each venue, allowing participants to gradually assemble an original KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY necklace by visiting multiple locations.
The completed necklace can be taken home free of charge as a first jewelry collection piece and as a lasting souvenir of the visitor’s experience in Kyoto.
2. Solo and Group Exhibitions by Artists and Students from Japan and Abroad
Exhibitions will be presented in cultural institutions, galleries, rental spaces, and traditional tea houses located within Kyoto’s gardens and historic sites. These projects create encounters between contemporary jewelry and Kyoto’s distinctive architectural and cultural environments.
Opportunities to continuously exhibit and experience contemporary jewelry remain limited in Japan. This project aims to provide exhibition opportunities for artists nationwide while also creating environments where visitors can purchase works, contributing to the growth of both the jewelry market and appreciation culture in Japan.
3. Collaborations with Kyoto-Based Craftspeople
Designers and artists will collaborate with craftspeople working in Kyoto to explore new possibilities for artworks and products. By connecting traditional techniques with contemporary jewelry and design practices, the project seeks to discover new applications for craftsmanship while introducing the work of local artisans to broader audiences.
4. CJST Symposium and Open Call Exhibition
During KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY, the CJST Symposium and Open Call Exhibition will be presented concurrently.
The symposium, held at the Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art, will include panel discussions, handling sessions where visitors can directly experience jewelry works related to artworks in the museum collection, and talks by artists based overseas.
The exhibition will feature selected works from the 3rd CJST Open Call, themed “Brooch,” alongside a group exhibition of artists chosen from previous open-call participants. Selected works will be available for purchase, creating opportunities that connect viewing and collecting.
5. Networking Event
A networking event will bring together artists, students, gallery professionals, educational institutions, supporters, and visitors.
By creating opportunities for encounters that transcend affiliations, generations, disciplines, and regions, the event aims to foster new jewelry-centered networks throughout Japan.
6. Guided Gallery Tours
Small-group gallery tours will be offered for first-time visitors to Kyoto, individuals attending Jewelry Week independently, and those interested in learning more about contemporary jewelry.
Designed for participants without specialized knowledge, the tours will introduce key venues, exhibitions, and artworks while providing an accessible entry point into the broader Jewelry Week experience. Advance registration will be required.
《Future Vision》
KYOTOOOOOOO JEWELRY is envisioned not as a one-time event, but as a long-term initiative that will establish Kyoto as a new center for jewelry culture.
By continuously connecting exhibitions, education, collecting, commerce, community engagement, and local cultural resources, the project seeks to create opportunities for artists to present their work, for visitors to encounter jewelry in new ways, and for supporters to participate in shaping the future of culture.
《About CJST》
CJST (Contemporary Jewelry Symposium Tokyo) is an artist collective that organizes projects dedicated to the development, expansion, and promotion of jewelry culture in Japan.
We regard the history of contemporary jewelry—primarily developed in the West—as a form of “liberation movement of jewelry.” From this perspective, we explore what becomes possible once jewelry is freed from conventional definitions and expectations.
Rather than viewing jewelry merely as decoration or craft, we understand it as a unique form of expression capable of connecting the body, society, culture, history, and social systems. By crossing the boundaries between wearing, viewing, making, and encountering others, CJST seeks to generate new dialogues and values through jewelry itself.
Through the field of jewelry, CJST aims to become a hub connecting different disciplines, people, regions, and cultures. Drawing upon perspectives rooted in Japanese culture and society, we continue to develop projects both within Japan and internationally, proposing new possibilities for jewelry culture.
